Detailed description
A four-armed Art Nouveau candelabrum, whose body features a slender, S-shaped female figure. The figure has a warm brown, highly polished patina on its naked upper body, while the swirling drapery surrounding the body and the candle arms have a dark, bluish-black patina. The arms of the candelabrum branch out from the back like plant tendrils, ending in cup or tulip-shaped holders with leaf-edged rims. The head has wavy hair divided down the center, and the facial features are idealized with finely modeled characteristics. The contrast of light and shadow is strong due to the two-tone patina, with small abrasions, occasional patina loss, and micro-scratches visible on the surfaces. The base is circular, made of gray marble, above which runs a cast band decorated with floral and vine motifs. The composition evokes a functionalist-sculptural, typically Secessionist female allegory. Likely origin: France, 1900–1915.
