Detailed description
A Italian mantel clock from the second half of the 19th century, measuring 62×35 cm, evokes the representative residential culture of the era with its gilded bronze decorations and neoclassical design. The clock mechanism features an enameled dial adorned with Roman numerals, preserved with fine steel hands, while the richly ornamented case appears in a symmetrical, architecturally impactful arrangement. Elements of the Neo-Baroque and Napoleon III styles emphasize grandeur and elegance, while the marble base provides a stable foundation. Beyond its timekeeping function, this piece also held decorative significance, serving as a status symbol in 19th-century bourgeois homes. The carefully crafted details, the surviving gilding, and the representative size make it an attractive piece for collectors and interior decorators alike.
