The sparse background directs all attention to the plasticity and the quiet facial expression, which shows the influence of Munich-Paris academicism. The work is presumably a studio study, which could be stylistically close to József Gulyás's half-figure nudes, but the attribution cannot be proven due to the lack of signature and provenance; it differs from Andor Basch's more decorative, colorful approach to nudes. The quality brushwork and the period-appropriate gilded frame result in a decorative overall effect; the piece is an authentic, intimate document of the nude cult of the turn of the century.
