Detailed description

The 15×13 cm cabinet painting depicts a dilapidated building complex by the waterside, in a slightly misty, golden light. In the bottom right corner, the signature "Ligeti A." can be seen, but based on technical and stylistic characteristics, this work is not an original creation of Ligeti Antal, but rather a small cabinet work belonging to his followers. The motif, composition, and color palette evoke the classical tradition of Hungarian romantic landscape painting. The translucent, thin layers of paint, atmospheric effects, and warm color mood follow Ligeti's themes, but the execution is decorative, more commercial in nature. The contemporary baroque-style, gilded frame further enhances its aesthetic value. This small-sized, intimate piece is a refined memory from the Ligeti school of the late 19th century.
