Detailed description
Lajos Gulácsy (1882–1932) worked with oil, painting many landscapes in a similarly soft, blurred structure — but never with such a strong impasto (thick paint) technique as what we see in this painting. He preferred thin, 'dream-like' layers, often in a translucent, misty, poetic atmosphere.
This painting is much more expressive, with a more defined brushstroke, and the colors are fresher, more modern — it evokes the plein air and post-impressionist style of the mid-20th century (e.g., the students of Gyula Rudnay, István Szőnyi, or even the aftereffects of the Kecskemét artists' colony).
Based on color palette and brushwork, it is not identical to that of Lajos Gulácsy.
