Detailed description

Half-length female saint in frontal position, with delicate features, wearing a jeweled diadem on her head. In her right hand, she holds a short arrow, and in her left hand, a palm branch – the symbols of martyrdom. She is dressed in a green dress, over which a grayish silvery stole with golden embroidery drapes, and a vibrant red cloak serves as an outer garment. The background is dark, and a translucent golden light ornament (nimbus) encircles her head. The light comes from the left, casting a strong shadow on the bridge of her nose; her face and hands have a smooth, porcelain-like modeling, with fine, carefully drawn golden threads running through the textiles. The composition is symmetrical and calm, following an iconographic pattern: based on the crown indicating royal status + palm + arrow, she is a female martyr saint, most likely Saint Ursula (crown + arrow) or Saint Philomena (palm + arrow/arrows).
Style: Biedermeier-Nazarene type "Heiligenbild", Central European (Austro-Hungarian) workshop.
Probable decade: 1830–1860 (late classicizing drawing, fine glaze, decorative gold outlines).
