Detailed description
Longitudinal, Frisian-style composition with a golden background, evoking the world of monumental murals. To the right, a sea god wrapped in a red cloak dominates the scene, his arm's width gesture commanding, and his muscular depiction is of academic precision. In front of him, a semi-reclining female nude (presumably a sea nymph/Amphitrite) poses in a flexible contrapposto, draped in olive green. On the left, a winged, bearded god figure gallops above the waves; indicating the power of wind and water. On the far right, a young charioteer struggles with the head of a sea horse (hippocampus); shells and snails on the coastal rocks serve as iconographic props. The color palette: warm golds and reddish-browns, balanced against cool sea greens and slate blues. The surfaces are mixed: polished, classicizing skin texture and a looser, decorative handling of water and background. The light-shadow contrast is pronounced, enhancing the theatricality. The artwork's conception reflects historicizing academicism.
