Detailed description
The painting reveals a spring hillside in the background, with blooming fruit trees in the foreground. The composition is dominated by a slender tree with a slightly leaning trunk, adorned with a clustered, pinkish floral crown. The green meadow is depicted with yellowish breaks and a mosaic-like patchwork. The trunks of the trees are accentuated with darker contours. The distinctive hill rising behind the Klastrom Meadow, with a cobalt blue sky above and white, swirling clouds, enhances the rich color experience of the image. The brushwork is short, direction-changing, and dynamic. The color palette of the painting is saturated: a combination of olive greens, cadmium yellows, turquoise blues, and warm pinks enhances the viewer's experience. The light and shadow are not naturalistic but rather decorative, with a fauvist effect. The frame is gilded and has a pearl edging.
This work is one of the outstanding pieces of the early Nagybánya school. It is a piece that can be integrated into representative collections.
