Detailed description
Large French mantel clock, featuring a mounted sculpture group depicting a battle allegory in the center, flanked by large, multi-branch candelabras. The contrast between the dark patinated bronze figures and the heavily gilded base creates a dramatic, sculptural effect. The execution and style of the piece are characteristic of the Parisian decorative bronze industry of the second half of the 19th century and can be attributed to the Lerolle Frères workshop based on the marking. The intricate figurative detailing and architectural structure indicate a work made for the representative luxury interiors of the era.
