Large French standing clock (pendule à gaine), richly carved wood case and finely gilded bronze applications, with a putto figure on the upper part. The symmetrical architecture, the classicizing ornamentation, and the excellent bronze fittings follow the traditions of the workshop of Jean-Henri Riesener. The prominent vertical form and the noble use of materials reflect the representative taste of late 18th-century French interior design.
