Detailed description
I am Kata Bán, a painter. I live and work in Győr, Hungary.
My drawing teacher was Ildikó Karsai, a graphic artist. I won an award in a drawing contest organized by UNICEF when I was in elementary school, which was about the equality of colored and white-skinned people living in the world. Later, I was the leader of the school's drawing club for 4 years.
After vocational high school, I was lured by the banking profession and worked in that field until 2019.
Since 2019, I have been painting again, continuously developing myself in a self-taught manner, mostly with the help of the internet, online courses, and my own experiences.
In the past 5 years, I have completed nearly 500 paintings, 80-90% of which were commissioned.
Among my paintings, there are original pieces in Ireland, Germany, Austria, Los Angeles, California, and Mexico, in addition to Hungary. Several collectors have already purchased works from me, and there is one collector who has bought more than 100 original paintings and then commissioned more from me.
In 2021, I was honored to be asked to paint the cover of a book. The title of the book is "Just Because." It is about autism and its treatment from a mother's perspective.
In 2023, I opened my first gallery in Győr on Apáca Street in a tiny separate room of a local small inn. In 2025, I successfully moved into a larger, more spacious, independent gallery that already has large display windows and more than 55 square meters of creative and exhibition space. It functions as a true STUDIO-GALLERY.
In 2025, I participated in an invitation-only artist camp at the Öttevényi Földváry Castle, where all costs were covered by the owner of the castle, and only the most renowned contemporary artists could enter this circle. I offered a part of the paintings made there for charity, along with 15 other contemporary artists. After several national exhibitions, the paintings will be auctioned for sale in October 2025.
I create my works with oil or acrylic, using a brush, in a traditional way, by hand. I provide each piece with a certificate of authenticity and a unique serial number.
I also create realistic, surreal, and abstract images.
I am very engaged with light and shadow, different structures, and 3D representation.
It is important to me that my paintings convey tangible reality as well as possible, as if they were stepping off the canvas, the inner emotions that a photo will never be able to capture. A painting shows different faces at different times of the day, evokes emotions, and is a timeless value that has been cherished from generation to generation.
I continue to paint commissioned works, but it is now necessary to signal requests much earlier so that the painting can be completed on time. In my gallery, I hold solo exhibitions periodically of the works created there.
My goal is to show the world through my paintings as I see it. The glow of people, the sparkle of raindrops, how the sunlight shines through the clouds, bringing happiness and beauty to our world, the rainbow, in the water droplets left behind. And to show how beautiful everything is, hopefully many will see it and cherish this beauty, the wonder we live in.
