Detailed description
I am Kata Bán, a painter. I live and work in Győr, Hungary.
My art teacher was Ildikó Karsai, a graphic artist. I won an award in a drawing competition organized by UNICEF when I was in elementary school, which focused on the equality of people with different skin colors. Later, I was the leader of the school's drawing club for 4 years.
After graduating from vocational school, I was lured into the banking profession and worked in that field until 2019.
Since 2019, I have been painting again, continuously developing myself in a self-taught manner, mainly with the help of the internet, online courses, and my own experiences.
In the past 5 years, I have created nearly 500 paintings, of which 80-90% were made on commission.
Besides Hungary, my paintings are also present in Ireland, Germany, Austria, Los Angeles, California, and Mexico, where original copies are held by private individuals. Several collectors have purchased works from me, including one collector who has bought and commissioned more than 100 original pieces.
In 2021, I was honored to be commissioned to paint the cover of a book. The title of the book is "Csakazértis" (Just Because). It discusses autism and its treatment from a mother's perspective.
In 2023, I opened my first gallery in Győr, on Apáca Street, in a small room facing the street of a local tavern. In 2025, I managed to move into a larger, more spacious, standalone gallery that has a large window display and over 55 square meters of creating and exhibition space. It functions as a true STUDIO-GALLERY.
In 2025, I participated in an invitation-only artist retreat at the Öttevényi Földváry Castle, where all expenses were covered by the castle's owner, and only the most renowned contemporary artists were allowed in this circle. I donated some of the paintings created there for charity, along with 15 other contemporary artists who painted there. After several national exhibitions, the paintings will be auctioned in October 2025.
I create my works using oil or acrylic paints, with a brush, in a traditional, handcrafted manner. Each piece is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a unique serial number.
I create realistic, surreal, and abstract paintings.
I am greatly interested in light and shadow, various structures, and 3D representation.
It is important to me that my paintings convey tangible reality as best as possible, as if they were stepping off the canvas, the inner emotions that a photograph will never be able to capture. A painting shows a different face at every time of the day, evokes emotions, and is a timeless value held in great esteem from generation to generation.
I continue to paint on commission, but it is now necessary to indicate requests much earlier so that the painting can be completed on time. In my own gallery, I periodically hold solo exhibitions featuring the works created there.
My goal is to show the world as I see it through my paintings: the radiance of people, the sparkle of raindrops, the way sunlight shines through the clouds, bringing happiness and beauty to our world, the rainbow, in the water droplets that remain. I want to show how beautiful everything is, in hopes that many will see it and more will cherish this beauty, this wonder we live in.
