Detailed description
I am Kata Bán, a painter. I live and work in Győr, Hungary.
My drawing teacher was Ildikó Karsai, a graphic artist. As a young schoolchild, I won an award in a drawing competition organized by UNICEF, which was about the equality of people with colored and white skin around the world. Later, I was the leader of the school's drawing club for 4 years.
After vocational school, I was tempted by the banking profession and worked in that field until 2019.
Since 2019, I have been painting again, continuously developing myself in a self-taught manner, mostly with the help of the internet, online courses, and personal experiences.
In the past 5 years, I have created nearly 500 paintings, 80-90% of which were made to order.
Among my paintings, there are original pieces in Ireland, Germany, Austria, Los Angeles, California, and Mexico, in addition to Hungary, held by private individuals. Several collectors have already purchased my works, but there is one collector who has bought more than 100 original paintings from me.
In 2021, I was honored to be asked to paint the cover of a book. The book's title is 'Csakazértis'. It talks about autism and its treatment from a mother's perspective.
In 2023, I opened my first gallery in Győr on Apáca Street, in a small separate room of a local inn. In 2025, I managed to move to a larger, more spacious independent gallery, which already has large display areas and more than 55 square meters of creative and exhibition space. It functions as a true STUDIO-GALLERY.
In 2025, I participated in an invitation-only artists' camp at the Öttevényi Földváry Castle, where all costs were covered by the castle's owner, and only the most renowned contemporary artists could enter this circle. I offered a part of the paintings created there for charity, along with 15 other contemporary creators painting there. After several national exhibitions, the paintings will be sold at auction in October 2025.
I create my works using oil or acrylic, with a brush, traditionally and by hand. I provide every piece with a certificate of authenticity and a unique serial number.
I create realistic, surrealistic, and abstract paintings as well.
I am greatly interested in light and shadow, different structures, and three-dimensional appearance.
It is important to me that my paintings convey tangible reality as best as possible, as if they are stepping out of the canvas, the inner emotions that a photo will never be able to capture. A painting shows a different face at every time of day, evokes emotions, and is a timeless treasure cherished from generation to generation.
I continue to paint on commission, but it is now necessary to indicate requests much earlier, so that the painting can be completed on time. I hold solo exhibitions periodically in my own gallery with the works created there.
My goal is to show the world through my paintings as I see it. The radiance of people, the sparkle of raindrops, how sunlight shines through the clouds, bringing happiness and beauty to our world, the rainbow, in the leftover water droplets, and to show how beautiful everything is, hoping that many will see it and more will preserve this beauty, this miracle in which we live.
