Detailed description

Enikő Kónya is a painter living in Szentendre. She was born in Budapest in 1961. Her civil qualification is that of a legal engineer.

She began her artistic studies under painter Zsófia Varga at a painter school in Zugló, and then completed the painting program at the Számalk-Szalézi Secondary School of Visual Arts, where her teachers included painters Andrea Cecilia Szabó, Nikoletta Kováts, and János Zoltán Kovács.

Viewers will discover an extraordinarily experimental creator through her works, who boldly reaches for multiple formulas of image construction. A strong constructivist spirit can be felt behind her works, and although it may seem that this could give a certain closedness to her art, in reality, if we detach from the concept and simply look at the paintings themselves, we see that the construction of visual contents is light, soft, and possesses almost a musical rhythm, just like the works of her Szentendre predecessors, including the ones of her greatly admired Dezső Korniss and the constructivist painting of Endre Bálint.

She is a member of the National Association of Hungarian Creative Artists. In 2024, she won the grand prize of the Kóka Ferenc Inspirational Contest.

Her works are regularly showcased in solo and group exhibitions.
