Detailed description

Enikő Kónya is a painter living in Szentendre. She was born in 1961 in Budapest. Her civil qualification is a legal engineer.

She began her artistic studies at a painting school in Zugló with painter Zsófia Varga, and then completed the painting program at Számalk-Szalézi Vocational and Applied Arts High School, where her teachers were painters Andrea Cecilia Szabó, Nikoletta Kováts, and János Zoltán Kovács.

By viewing her works, the viewer can get to know an extraordinarily experimental artist who boldly approaches several formulas of image-building. There is a strong sense of constructivism that can be felt behind her works, and although it seems that this might give a kind of closedness to her art, in reality, if we detach from the concept and just look at the paintings themselves, we see that the construction of visual contents is light, soft, and already has an almost musical rhythm, just like the works of her Szentendre predecessors, such as the highly regarded works of Dezső Korniss and the constructivist paintings of Endre Bálint.

She is a member of the National Association of Hungarian Artists. In 2024, she won the main prize of the Ferenc Kóka Inspirational Contest.

Her works regularly appear in solo and group exhibitions.
