Detailed description

Enikő Kónya is a painter living in Szentendre. She was born in Budapest in 1961. Her civilian qualification is a legal engineer.

She began her artistic studies at a painting school in Zugló with the painter Zsófia Varga, and then completed the painting program at Számalk-Szalézi Vocational Secondary School of Arts, where her teachers were painters Andrea Cecilia Szabó, Nikoletta Kováts, and János Zoltán Kovács.

By viewing her creations, the audience can encounter an extraordinarily experimental artist who boldly engages with various formulas of image construction. A strong constructive spirit can be felt behind her works, and although it seems that this could give a certain closedness to her art, in reality, if we detach from the concept and just look at the images themselves, we see that the construction of visual contents is light, soft, and almost has a musical rhythm, just like the works of her Szentendre predecessors, such as the highly regarded Dezső Korniss and Endre Bálint's constructive painting.

She is a member of the National Association of Hungarian Artists. In 2024, she won the main prize of the Ferenc Kóka Inspiration Application.

Her works regularly appear in solo and group exhibitions.
