Theodor Kleehaas: The Life and Work of a 19th Century Painter

Theodor Kleehaas (1824–1891) was a German painter operating on the border of realism and early impressionism, whose art was based on the duality of depicting social reality and experimenting with natural light. His work represented an exciting blend of traditional academic style and modern aspirations.

During his early years, Kleehaas studied at the Düsseldorf Academy in 1840, where his commitment to historical and religious themes shaped his style.
