Detailed description
Winter village scene by the waterside, with a low horizon and a wide, yellow-orange twilight sky. The composition is segmented by low peasant houses lined up from left to right; the blue-gray tones of the roofs are countered by the warm ochre of the plaster. The snowfields are rendered with light watercolor washes, occasionally featuring a more covered white gouache touch. The line drawing has a graphite/marker effect, with thin, delicate outlines depicting the leafless trees and the plank bridge. In the foreground, the mirror of a small stream sparkles, with the tiny reflection of a figure in an orange skirt. The light-shadow is soft, and the details are stylized; the iconography evokes mid-20th century rural Hungary (women in headscarves, lime-washed fences). In the lower left corner, there is a mark reading "HUNTER." The technique and palette remind of the lyrical, decorative watercolors of Endre Vadász; likely created in the 1950s-1960s.
