Detailed description

Panoramic valley view from a height: on the left, a steep, orange-red rock wall, on the right, darker hills and groups of trees. The composition is guided into the depths by a winding stream/river in the center, opening in strips to a vibrant green meadow bathed in sunlight; in the foreground, a small pond/mirror water and rock blocks. The palette is built on warm ochres and reddish browns, counterbalanced by cool bluish-greens and the translucent, light blue tones of the sky. The brushwork is mixed: the foliage and rock surfaces are finely detailed, while the distant mountain ridges are painted more loosely and airily. The light comes from the upper right zone, creating golden accents on the edges of the rock walls and patches of the meadow. Iconography: romantic 'grand view' – a veduta emphasizing the greatness of nature.
Style: 19th-century romantic-academic landscape, influenced by the Vienna/Düsseldorf school.
Likely decade: c.
