Detailed description
Patinated bronze equestrian statue, a historicizing composition made after Andrea del Verrocchio's famous equestrian statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni. The dynamic relationship between the determinedly posed commander and the stepping horse evokes the original sculptural power of the Renaissance in a decorative form. The piece is a workshop work from the 19th-20th century, made for representative interiors, and is not a Renaissance-era creation.
