Dresden

Approximately 72 cm tall, pair of lidded Dresden porcelain vases, richly gilded, painted, and decoratively enhanced surfaces. On both sides of the oval body, there are delicately brushed, classicizing allegorical scenes depicted in cartouche-like regions with a cloudy edge: female figures in antique attire accompanied by putti, set against a landscape background. The color palette is pastel: light blue base, pink, lavender, jasper green, and ochre draperies, abundantly outlined in gold. The lids feature a crowned, heraldic throne-like element, surrounded by seated and depicted in motion putti; female figures holding baskets at the shoulder serve as 'niches.'
