Detailed description
Émile Louis Picault's bronze statue is a composition organized around a single, determined movement directed upwards, held together by the rhythm of the wings and the advancing posture. The proportions of the figure are taut, and the drapery placed at the hips segments the surface just enough as the sculptural structure requires. The surface treatment is restrained and uniform, with anatomical forms clearly legible. The work fits well within the context of Picault's bronzes intended for exhibition and interiors, with prominently decorative yet disciplined solutions.
