Detailed description
Bronze hunting scene with a male figure and a lioness, in a tense composition built on close combat. The bodies grasping each other and the twisting torso create a distinct motion, with the emphasis on the moment of muscular force and resistance. The anatomy is powerfully modeled, and the surface is polished, further enhancing the dramatic effect. The sculpture is a piece well representing Gauquié's dynamic, academic naturalism.
