Mathurin Moreau (1822–1912)

A bronze statue depicting two female figures, with an everyday, peasant theme, in a calm, closed composition. The connection between the figures is expressed through gestures and glances, without significant emotional exaggeration. The treatment of the drapery and surfaces is thorough but not ostentatious, with an emphasis on natural posture and proportions. A characteristic, high-quality Moreau-type salon sculpture from the late 19th century.
