Detailed description

Pierre-Philippe Thomire is a representative piece of French Empire bronze craftsmanship with its grand candelabrum pair. Thomire was one of the most significant bronze craftsmen of the era, creating high-quality decorative objects for the imperial court and the European elite. The richly decorated balconies held by winged female figures form a harmonious unity with the classicizing ornamentation. The bas-reliefs on the pedestal and the finely crafted details demonstrate a conscious application of ancient motifs. The ensemble is both functional and sculpturally demanding, a distinctive furnishing element of the luxurious interiors of the era.
