Detailed description

Richly gilded French bronze clock–candelabra set, featuring an extremely dynamic Rococo-inspired design and a central composition with putto figures and allegorical elements. The finely chiselled details, vigorous volutes, and balanced symmetry are characteristic of the Parisian decorative bronze industry of the mid-19th century. A piece from the workshop of Victor Paillard, which was one of the most significant bronze casting enterprises of the era. This piece is a representative, impactful example of French historicizing luxury clocks.
