"I used to go to the wooden bridge in front of the Academy of Arts in the evenings with a two-wheeled cart on which I carried my canvas and painter's bag. I stood under a white lamp on the wooden bridge that illuminated my palette and helped with applying the appropriate colors. Here I could use pure atrament black, davy grey, and neutral tint, perhaps payne's grey or indigo, which helped in capturing the nighttime colors."
