Detailed description
We see a pastel landscape in a horizontal, panoramic composition. In the foreground, to the right, there is a widely spreading tree with a lush canopy, while to its left, a dense row of trees arranged one behind the other creates rhythm. The air perspective is subtly present: the background has a bluer, cooler tone. The color palette is vibrant, with warm autumn shades (ochres, oranges, rusty browns) and cool blue-green counterpoints; the cobalt blue of the clear sky provides a strong decorative effect. The grainy, dry application of pastel chalks is clearly visible; the leaf surfaces are created with swirling, semicircular, swift gestures, while the trunks and shadows receive distinct, purplish-blue contours. There are areas dominated by light and shadow, with sunlight breaking through the foliage in patches and scattering onto the grass. In the lower right corner, there is a faintly readable signature written in white. Based on the sheet glued to the cardboard, the old frame, and the toned sky background, the work shows the influence of the Nagybánya tradition of plein air painting, likely dating from the 1910s to the 1930s.
