Detailed description
Half-figure, frontal-three-quarter female bust, strongly stylized, with a doll-like face. The head is large, slightly tilted to the left, and the hair swirls in a billowing, dark brown mass. The eye sockets appear as deep, dark spots, the mouth marked in bright red, and rosy tones flash on the cheeks. The body is simplified into a solid, cloak-like form, closing in a semicircular mass. The background is built from translucent, ochre-gray-blue transitions, with soft, melting contours. The brushwork is pastose, circular, with occasional scratched surface gestures; the lighting is neutral, and the plasticity is provided by the fine juxtaposition of tones. In the lower left corner, there is a signature in black paint reading 'Anna Margit'; its shape and placement are debatable. The frame is stained brown, reminiscent of the profiles from the 1960s-70s; on the back, there is a hardboard/wood pulp panel and a paper tape closure. Iconography: a rough female portrait with grotesque expressiveness. Probable style direction: Hungarian naive-expressionist/post-surrealist tradition; date: late 1950s - 1970s.
