Detailed description
By the end of the 19th century, rococo-themed bronze small sculptures spread throughout Europe, which were symbolic reinterpretations of 18th-century gallantry and “poudré” elegance. The sculptures were often transformed into light fixtures so that the decorative objects could be part of the bourgeois interior. The inscription “Goblinger” presumably indicates a workshop from Vienna or Germany that reworked figurative models by Moreau and Gory. Bronze casting is a technically demanding, multi-component form, finely patinated and polished.
