Detailed description
Birch Trees
A small-sized (approximately 35 x 43 cm) landscape shows several birch trees nestled together in the center, standing on a shallow waterside protrusion. The composition is organized by the vertical rhythm of the tree trunks and the diagonal of the sloping shoreline to the right. The background is slightly misty, dissolving with atmospheric transitions that softly reflect the play of light and shadow with a delicate, veiled translucence. The color palette is autumnal: ochres, golden yellows, warm browns, and gray-greens dominate, while the white of the birch bark and its bluish-green reflections create fresh contrasts. The brushwork is varied: thick, impasto applications are observed on the trunks, while dry brush techniques create rubbed layers in the foliage and misty background. In the lower right corner of the painting, a green signature appears enclosed in a rectangle; its support is presumably made of wood or hardboard. The frame is darkly polished, wide-profiled, with an inner gilded section that decoratively enhances the warm tone. Style direction: post-impressionist, decorative plein air; likely decades: 1950–1970.
