Detailed description
Large French standing clock, richly carved wooden casing and finely gilded bronze appliqués, with a cherub figure on the upper part. The symmetrical architecture, classicizing ornamentation, and excellent bronze mounts follow the traditions of the workshop of Jean-Henri Riesener. The pronounced vertical form and the use of noble materials reflect the representative taste of late 18th to early 19th century French interior design.
