Detailed description

The patinated bronze sculpture created around 1930 depicts a dramatic animal struggle, with detailed anatomical work and tense dynamics of movement. Although its creation falls within the art deco era, its formal language deliberately deviates from the geometric, stylized direction and follows the naturalistic tradition inherited from the 19th century. The tiered marble base provides a restrained, period-appropriate frame for the composition. The work is a characteristic example of conservative French sculpture from the 1930s.
