Detailed description
Large French standing clock with a red tortoiseshell Boulle marquetry case and rich, gilded bronze fittings. The surface, decorated with cartouches, mask heads, and heraldic motifs, reflects the 19th-century historicist continuation of the classical French court style established by André-Charles Boulle. The figurative bronze appliqué placed at the top gives the clock a pronounced representative character. Based on its material, design, and decorative system, it was likely made in the second half of the 19th century, presumably in a Parisian bronzier-cabinetmaker workshop.
