Detailed description

Large three-piece fireplace clock set: in the center with a clock case, flanked by hexagonal candelabra. The lower part of the case is richly decorated, made of gilded bronze (ormolu), featuring leaf scrolls, volutes, and pierced ornaments. Above is a patinated bronze sculpture: a female figure draped in a veiled and draped, classicizing dress accompanied by three putti against a cloud and rock motif; the iconography of the scene alludes to the Assumption of Mary or allegorical Virtue. The dial is enameled, with Roman numerals, and has two winding holes. The moving 8-day French “Paris” drum mechanism strikes on a bell visible on the back at the hour and half-hour. The candelabra are made of two-patina bronze that matches the ornamentation of the case.
