Mathurin Moreau (1822 – 1912)

Winged male figure and female figure in a loose duo, with a distinctly diagonal movement. The composition is guided not by a narrative, but by gestures: the raised arm and the slightly turned body suggest a change of direction. The modeling is smooth, academic, with a uniform surface treatment, without significant contrasts. The work represents one of the developed, balanced variations of the angelic-themed salon sculptures from the Moreau workshop.
