Detailed description

Antal Steiner (September 15, 1898, Sopron – April 16, 1966, Budapest) was a Hungarian painter. He initially studied under his father, Rezső Steiner, who was also a painter, and later continued his art education in Munich. In the early 1920s, he returned to Sopron, where he settled and actively participated in the local art scene. Early in his career, he painted portraits and later created larger historical scenes. Throughout his career, he produced portraits, genre paintings, posters, and book covers, and was also involved in restoration and copying works. He was a regular participant in exhibitions in Sopron, with his miniatures receiving particular acclaim. In 1924, he married Karolina Hlowatschek in Sopron.
