Lajos Márk (August 25, 1867 – March 18, 1942) was a Hungarian painter and graphic artist, born in Rette and died in New York. He studied in Munich, Paris and Budapest, including at the private school of Simon Hollósy and at the Julian Academy. During his career, he became known as an excellent portrait painter, book illustrator, caricaturist and poster artist. Between 1910 and 1921, then in 1924 and at the end of his life, he lived in North America, where he created numerous representative portraits of members of the American social and political elite. Several of Lajos Márk's works have appeared in the art trade. For example, his oil-on-canvas painting "Preparation", measuring 80.5 x 60 cm, was offered at the Kieselbach Gallery for 445,000 forints.
