Detailed description
The "Komm mit!" (translated: Come with me!) is a famous porcelain statuette created by the Vienna Goldscheider Ceramics and Porcelain Manufactory in the 1930s. The piece depicts a little girl in a white checkered dress, cloak, and red hat, just pulling up her white glove while looking at her terrier dog sitting at her feet. The composition reflects the innocence of childhood and the love for pets.
The designer of the figurine is Germaine Bouret, who created this model around 1936. The small sculpture has a height of 22.5 cm and is made from the expensive white clay used by the Goldscheider manufactory, primarily utilized in the 1920s and 1930s. At the bottom of the piece, the mark “Goldscheider GWM,” a hand-painted inscription, and the model number 7664 can be seen.
The Goldscheider manufactory was founded in 1885 in Vienna and became one of the most influential ceramic manufacturers in Europe, especially in the field of terracotta, faience, and bronze objects. Its founder, Friedrich Goldscheider, moved from Bohemia to Vienna, where he directed the company with his three sons. The company produced more than 10,000 different models, many of which were designed by renowned artists such as Walter Bosse, Demètre Chiparus, and Josef Lorenzl.
The statuette named "Komm mit!" is a prominent example of the Art Deco style, reflecting the artistic and technical excellence of the Goldscheider manufactory. The decorative item is still a sought-after piece among collectors today and is considered a valuable art object in the ceramics market.
