Detailed description

Slim, full-figure female statue depicting a dark greenish-black patina, on a reddish marble pedestal. The model stands in an S-shaped contrapposto; she raises the folds of her richly decorated skirt adorned with floral motifs with her left hand, while her right arm is raised high holding a four-armed candlestick. The dress is from around 1890–1905, featuring a 'leg-of-mutton' puffed sleeve jacket, a deep neckline, and a wide collar, complemented by a large-brimmed, bow-tied hat - a typical Belle Époque silhouette. The fine finishing of the surfaces (carving, chiseling) emphasizes the textile pattern; the patina is worn to a warm, brownish bronze on the highlighted areas (face, décolletage, hand), with the candlestick made of a separate, golden yellow brass/bronze fitting. The slight twist of the body and the flowing rhythm of the garment evoke Art Nouveau taste. In its overall effect, it reflects the style period of Belle Époque/Art Nouveau; it follows the style of the 1890s–1900s (a later casting is also possible).
