Detailed description
Under the name Moreau, we primarily refer to the renowned French sculptors Mathurin Moreau (1822–1912) and Auguste Moreau (1834–1917), who created significant artistic works at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Both were masters of decorative sculpture and predominantly depicted allegorical and mythological themes, represented in finely crafted, life-sized or smaller bronze sculptures. Their works are characterized by richness of detail, elegance, and harmony of beautiful forms. Their sculptures often adorned contemporary bourgeois homes, and many of their works were made of patinated bronze, with marble or other ornate pedestals. The composition 'Woman and Cherub with a Mirror' fits well within the artistic style of the Moreau brothers, who merged the traditions of classical art with the tastes of the modern era.
