Detailed description
Hippolyte François Moreau (1832–1927) was a French sculptor. Following family traditions, he entered the profession: his father, Jean-Baptiste Moreau, introduced him to the mysteries of artistic life as a master. His art was shaped by the characteristics of naturalism and neoclassicism, while he also made his own signature recognizable through delicate detail handling.
He continued his studies at the Paris Academy of Fine Arts and regularly participated in the exhibitions of the Salon. Among his works are many allegorical compositions and lifelike sculptures that immortalize the female form and the idyll of childhood. The public favored him particularly for his bronze creations depicting various life situations.
Bronze figurative mantel clock set, with a central clock body and two accompanying figures, in a unified, narrative composition. The central group depicts a female figure and a child, while the two side sculptures feature independently formed, thematically related figures, all three elements placed on dark-toned pedestals.
